    Introduction. Yokwe!Welcome to the very remote Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).Located across the International date line, five and a half hours flight west of Hawaii. RMI is the first stop on the epic United Airlines Island Hopper (UA) – a 14 hour, all stops, meander through the central Pacific from Honolulu to Guam. For more on UA, check out my Central Pacific island hopping blog.   Washington, D.C., J - U.S. atomic tests in Bikini Atoll in July staged by a joint Army-Navy task force were the first atomic explosions since the bombings of Japan a year earlier. Documents posted today by the National Security Archive about “Operation Crossroads” shed light on these events as do galleries of declassified videos and photographs.

    Bombs Over Bikini details the nuclear testing done in the Marshall Islands in the wake of WWII. This very informative book looks at how and why the islands were chosen and what happened during and after the tests. I found some of the sillier aspects of the tests fascinating/5.   The Marshall Islands was recently listed as one of the world's five least visited countries. But tourism could help fade the scars of a troubled past for the 29 stunning coral atolls.

      U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll/Kwajalein Missile Range (USAKA/KMR) is a remote (located in the Republic of the Marshall Islands), secure activity of the Major Range and Test Facility Base as constituted by DoD.
